Opinon Story

Calvert Hall Lacrosse

Why is Calvert Hall so good at lacrosse, what do there coaches do and why do they have win percentage of 94.76%.

Calvert Hall is one of the best high school lacrosse teams in the world, reason being is because all of
there players have the will and drive to play the game and another big part is there coaches, all of them know the game so well that they are able to teach it and pass it on.

Calvert Hall hasn't lost a game since May, 14 2016, and they have only gotten better and built up their team.

Some of the reasons there such a big winning team is because all of there players play with respect and gratitude towards there school, team, players, coaches and parents.

So I decided to do some research about the team and coaches, there goalie coach Mark Freeman is a professional goalie in the PLL, There defense coach is Bryan Dunn he is also a professional lacrosse
player and there head coach Jim Waters used to be the lacrosse coach for the Duke.

Almost 75% of Calvert Hall Seniors will end up playing college lacrosse after they graduate.

Some people think that they are a good team because they are a private catholic school and they have money and a good field to play on, but all of their players are very dedicated to the sport and the amount of time they workout and practice is crazy, so that helps to being a winning team.

In 2018 the teams head coach Don Harden passed away due to natural causes, today the team wears his coaching number and his initials on the back of their helmets, I also think that because this happened they have more drive and will to win and play the game.

Some of the things that the team really focuses on is, that all of their players are able to understand the game, communicate well and properly with there team mates and coaches on and off the field, they are also don't take things personal from a coach because they only know that the coach is trying to make them better.

One last key thing that I noticed is that all of the players are naturally good and talented lacrosse players and they play with spirit and toughness, so in conclusion this is why i think Calvert Hall has the best high school lacrosse team in the nation.

Jackson Coggins was announced student of the month on February 27th at James Bowie High school.

he won the student of the month award, because he out worked everyone in the running and really put in the time and was very dedicated to his grades and school work.

"My mom was the biggest help and inspiration for me to keep me going and working hard"-Jackson Coggins, Student of the month.

We asked Coggins about his academics and we found out that his lowest grade is a 98 and he has a GPA of 4.5 and has been maintaining those same grades since the start of the school year.

We wanted to know what kept Jackson going and achieving the grades he want and he said "freshman year was the worst year I had ever had for academics, I failed all of my classes and ended the year with a 1.2 GPA, but because that had happen I really wanted to prove everyone wrong and better myself for my future". - Jackson Coggins

All of Jacksons friends, teachers and parents are very proud of what he has done and why he did it.  Jacksons parents never have to tell him to do his work now, when he comes home he gets straight to it.

All of Jacksons teachers and friends had something to say about him, "Jackson saw that he was smart and that he had to just put in the time and effort"- Mr. Parente, "Since the start of the school i have never had him not turn in worksheet, or get a grade below a 90". - Mrs. Madden.

His friends also had some thing to say about his success, "every time I see Jackson he's always trying to figure out a problem or studying for some test, I am happy for him but I feel like it cuts into our free time to hangout".-Trey Elizondo

Jacksons mom is one of his biggest help she's always trying to make sure his grades are in line and getting him to school on time.

We wanted to personally ask Jackson about what he thinks of further extending his education and his response was "Currently i have the choice to go to 6 different colleges and they are Stanford, Yale, Harvard, Brown, The University of Texas, and Penn State.

We wanted to find out what Jackson would say to the younger kids in conclusion to him being such a good student, he said "Success is not an accident, it's hard work and dedication".

Part 2 Shutterbug Websites

Part 2 Shutterbug Websites

The Website i chose was Reading the Pictures.  I think just by getting a first look at the website can already tell that this about news going on around the world, like when i first opened it up i saw pictures of Australia on fire and political stuff.  So basically Reading the Pictures intentions are to inform people, show and spread news about current thing going on around the world.

They write about news articles and current things that are happening or recently happened, for example along side the picture of Australia that i saw i also saw that they were showing pictures and writing captions about the pope hitting a woman and Mitch Epstein's pipeline activist or Christmas props where Jesus, Mary and Joseph were in cages to prevent the decorations from being stolen,  so in general they just write about news and informing people.

I bet your average viewer can get everything from what camera's and who took the picture all the way to getting a whole news article about something like the Australian fires so they know whats happening.

I probably will add Reading the Pictures to my bookmarks so i can check it and see well taken and interesting photo's while also reading about whats happening in the pictures,  I also like it because it's a non political news source it focus's  on more important things.

I would recommend this website to anyone because its a fair easy and simple way you can find out about whats going on around the world because i would consider it a new source, so yes i did like the website and i would recommend it to anyone who's interested in photography or global news.

Selfies and Shutterbug Websites

Part 1 Selfies and Shutterbugs

1. What is a selfie ? A selfie is a self portrait picture taken on a smart phone.

2. A self portrait is a is a picture of you or some one taken with a nice camera and usually takes a lot more time and effort.

3. With a selfie you can take a picture of your self with a filter on and call it done in ten seconds,  now with a self portrait you usually try to make the picture serious and professional,  also when taking a selfie its usually on a smart phone but with a nice self portrait its taken with a nice camera and is more time consuming.

4. I prefer taking a nice serious self portrait because i think taking a picture of your self could turn out so much better if you use a high quality camera, plus i think the fact that you can use filters while taking a selfie is very cheesy.

5.  Usually self portraits are more valuable because when you spend more time on something you appreciate it a more, you can take three hundred selfies with your friend or you can take ten good self portraits and personally i would choose the self portrait because i would rather have nicely taken pictures instead of silly ones, but that's just my preference.

Phobia's

Phobia's

A.  What is a phobia, a phobia is an extreme or irrational fear of or aversion to something.

B. Herpetophobia: The fear of creepy crawly things.
Necrophobia: The fear of rotting corpses.
Homophobia: The fear of homosexuality or becoming homosexual.
     Selachophobia: The fear of sharks.
Thanatophobia: The fear of death or dying.

C. I think something i will try for this project is to try to shoot pictures that show the fear of heights, i think something ill do for this is taking a picture of something high up and looking straight down.

Im also going to try to capture the fear of death, a way i might do this is by capturing a photo of my model and making it look like a crime scene to show this phobia.

A phobia that i definitely want to try to shoot is the fear of satan and demons, for this ill probably end up using red lights extreme lights and face paint, i think ill try to make it look like a demon or satan is in the room with you.

D. Some photographic techniques ill try to use are background, lighting, and depth of field, all of these for different phobia's

2019 Recap

2019 Recap

Smoke and flames rise from Notre Dame in Paris on April 15. The city was in flames months before the blaze at the cathedral. Protesters enraged over President Emmanuel Macron's economic plans had smashed storefronts and vandalized ATMs. But the smoke that filled the sky that day seemed to give the beleaguered city a sense of unity. Soon, another took hold: how to rebuild?
This photo shows so much and i think the reason i like it because it brings emotion to the viewer, you can obviously tell that this is in Paris with the Tour Eiffel in the background and Notre Dame on fire.

President Trump steps into North Korea as Kim Jong Un waits in the Demilitarized Zone, in Panmunjom, on June 30.
I like this photo because it was such a big step in American history and progress for our country, with out the caption it looks like a man stepping over a curb but knowing that Trump entered North Korea and they were able to capture it is really cool.

An image released on April 10 reveals the black hole at the center of Messier 87, a massive galaxy in the nearby Virgo galaxy cluster. This black hole resides 55 million light-years from Earth and has a mass 6.5-billion times that of the Sun.
I like this picture because it shows that something else is out there and waiting to be explored, personally i find space very fascinating and thats why i find this photo to be so cool.

Image result for earfquake

Personally i think the best song of 2019 was Tyler, The Creator's Earfquake, The song was released on May, 17 2019 along with his album IGOR, I thought the album and song are very special because it was out to the public three days after my birthday and i thought that was really cool.  Earfquake is one of the songs that has many samples on it, therefore Earfqauke is the best song of 2019.

Image result for the rise of skywalker
In my own idea Star Wars Rise of The Skywalker was the best movie of 2019, the reason being is that it is a sequel to Solo which was another really good movie, but i was so happy to find out what happened after Solo, I also like how at the end of the movie they left you with a cliff hanger which means that they will probably make another movie to sequel Rise of The Skywalker.

Slide 9
I though the most important new story of 2019 was the burning of Notre Dame Cathedral, because something so old can be destroyed by something as little as a cigarette, i also have a very strong connection to Paris because i love everything about it the music, art, and the language and to see something like this happen is very sad, because it means a lot to me, thats why i think its the most important news story of the year.

Image result for trump
I think the most important person of the year was President Donald Trump, he did so much for our country this year other than starting conflicts with Iran, our president has done great things and more to come, thats why i think President Trump should be the person of the year.

Image result for usa world cup 2019
The Athlete of the year was a whole team and that was the womens soccer teams, personally i had no interest in this but im glad they won and gave the United States of America more recognition, They deserve the athlete of the year award.

Image result for marfa
Over the break me and my family took a trip to Marfa Texas, i really liked it because the whole little town had so much art and it was just a really cool place to visit.

My 2020 resolutions are to try harder in school and get better grades and be more organized.

Something i look forward to in 2020 is this summer because we dont have school and i get to chill with my friends.
