Portraits and Self Portraits Intro

Portraits and Self Portraits

Some really good tips for taking good portraits are like holding your camera on a angle, framing your subject and using a wide angle.

portrait-wide-angle.jpg This Would be an example of playing with the background, the reason that the environment is a key element in this photo is because the girl is on the subway and everything thing else that is going on behind her is irrelevant because she is the main focus or subject.
portrait-movement.jpgThis would be an example of a casual portrait, because the man is in his natural state almost like he doesn't know that his picture is being taken, he's swiftly walking through the streets.

portrait-background.jpgThis photo would be used as a self portrait, because there is no background to look at it's the man and the camera, i actually really like this picture because it's taken really well and it's in focus and it's just a really good photo all in general.

Image result for kader the skaterI thought this picture would go really well with environmental portrait because its the skater and the stair case and building thats all there is to it's a very simple photo that is really well taken.

Image result for kader the skater I also thought this picture really suits environmental portrait theme because you have the skater and the bowl and a couple of people in the background other than that who ever took this picture really knows what their doing.

Image result for photography self portraitThis picture is really cool and interesting because the photographer used his natural resources and things around him to show himself and the camera in the picture.

Image result for photography self portrait I guess when taking a self portrait black and white film or filters are a very popular or a must, but i really like this one because its very simple but taken really well.

Image result for casual portraitI decided to use this kids senior picture for casual portrait because its very simple he's not to dresses up and it looks like its taken in his backyard so not a whole lot of thought went into this picture and thats what i think makes it really good.

Image result for casual portrait If you notice something about all of these casual portraits is that they are very simple but taken very well and whoever took these two casual portraits are both photographers that are very skilled and know what their doing.

For my portrait shoot ill try to shoot a little bit of inside the building and outside, ill shoot pictures of whoever wants their picture taken the only time i might take on without them knowing is when i take casual photo, thats really all i can think of for what ill do with my shoot.

Aperture, shutter speed- how do they work

Aperture, Shutter Speed + ISO

This Photo is taken in f/2.8

This picture was taken in f/16

1:  You would want to relate aperture to the face, you should every time you do so whether it's a self portrait or just a normal picture always make sure you do so.

2:  The smaller the aperture the greater depth of field, the higher the aperture the more light you get.

3:  If you have a small/narrow aperture the deeper and greater your depth of field will be.

Image result for high shutter speed picturesThis photo was taken with a really high shutter speed

This photo was taken with an extremely low shutter speed.

Program, aperture priority and manual
Program: The camera automatically chooses the Aperture and the Shutter Speed for you, based on the amount of light that passes through the lens. This is the mode you want to use for "point and shoot" moments, when you just need to quickly snap a picture.

Aperture Priority: You manually set the lens aperture, while the camera automatically picks the right shutter speed to properly expose the image.  You have full control over subject isolation and you can play with the depth of field, because you can increase or decrease the lens aperture and let the camera do the math on measuring the right shutter speed.

Manual Mode:  Manual mode stands for a full manual control of aperture and shutter speed. In this mode, you can manually set both the aperture and the shutter speed to any value you want - the camera lets you fully take over the exposure controls.

  1.  An advantage of using high ISO is that you'll actually be able to capture whats happening in the game, High ISO = Sports events.
  2. The Author suggested to use low ISO only when the picture doesn't have any action and it still.
  3. The author said that when using a high ISO you should be taking pictures of action such as sports, Cars, and planes.

The aperture settings are from 2.8 to 22
Available shutter speed options are from 1 sec to 1/4000 sec
ISO setting are anywhere from 100 to 25600

My grandma is cooler than you

Nancy in Ohio, Columbus celebrated her 100th on 12/3/16 by lighting up a cigarette off her birthday cake candle.  Nancy is just so cool she lights one up while everyone is singing happy birthday.  Nancy obviously didn't let smoking get to her over the years.

When ever you land your first kickflip.

Joji landed her first kickflip in sandal on 11/16/12 and i think the reaction on her face say's it all.  Her husband/instructor Walter is a skater god and was able to pass on his skills to Joji.  I guess it really is possible to land a kickflip in a robe and sandals while holding and umbrella.

What you rear view camera see's

Linda, 69 and John, 69 were out for a nice morning ride on their Honda mini bike while someone rear ended them the two were pissed and this was the guy who hit the two, view for the rest of the ride home.  I guess you could really say that this couple really doesn't give a F@#$.

Image result for Travis scott rule of thirdsMy theme for this composition will be different rappers. This photo of Travis Scott i used for RULE OF THIRDS, because he positioned on the left side where everything lines up.

Image result for post malone balancing elementsThis photo of Post Malone is a perfect representation of BALANCING ELEMENTS because his white jacket matches with the back ground but there's still a little color like his chain, grill, and glasses, thats why i thought this picture would be good for the rule.

Image result for tyler the creator on stageThis picture of Tyler The Creator is a decent example of leading lines, the leading lines in this photo are within the stage curtains and they really catch your eye if they don't then its his suit.

Image result for rappers stage background Patterns was a really hard rule to find pictures for, but i decided to use this photo of Kanye West. The object or thing that catches my eye the most are the spotlights that create a pattern, thats why i used this for pattern.

Image result for lil uzi on stageThis photo of Lil Uzi Vert was taken at ground level close up and those are both two things that contribute to a viewpoint picture so i think this fits the rule really well.

Image result for migosThis picture of the Migos represents background really well, because their jackets are blue and green but the background is bright vibrant pink. and that fits the rule of background.

Image result for depth photos of rappersThis photo of J Cole fits depth of field and it's all within the rainy background thats blurred and i think this was a very hard rule to find but i managed to find a photo that work with this rule.

Image result for asap rocky on stageThis picture i used of ASAP Rocky captures and frames everything that is happening on stage you have the smoke and him running back to place so that is why i used this for framing.

Image result for young thugThis photo of Young Thug is really representing background and cropping because the light and the way the photo was taken makes the back blurry and really focus's on him on stage.

Image result for good pictures of rappers

This picture of XXXTENTACION is really experimenting with the background light and color changes and i think it fits the rule really well.
